What are these?

I birded at Don Edward EEC in Alviso 2:30-3:00 on Sept. 30th.   Thle whitish bird may have been injured.  It flew just to avoid me for a minute or two, and landed on the board walk again.  It may be Ring-billed Gull, but I couldn’t see the bill. (I think it was a 1st winter California Gull. 11/8/14) The bird swimming may be  a Female Northern Shoveler.  It has a  very long bill .   The head and neck area is very dark.  (I think is a Adult Nonbreeding Shoveler.11/5)
