Green Heron, Avocet and Stilt Nesting@ Sunnyvale WPCP

I participated in a SCVAS field trip at the City of Sunnyvale Landfill today.  We saw many Red-Winged Black Birds and Barn swallows, but the ponds were very quiet except for  some White Pelicans, Eaglets, Stilts and Avocets.  Some Avocets and Stilts were nesting on the small island in Pond A4, and on our way out, the leader spotted a Green Heron nesting in the Marsh!  I wonder how long it takes for the eggs to hatch…DSC_0021 DSC_0052 DSC_0037 DSC_0047
