Oregon! Hwy 97 07/06-07/07/2015

After the Shasta Area, we attempted birding at Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge & Tule Lake WildlifeRefuge before entering Oregon.

We drove HWY 97,  and camped at Collier Memorial State Park on July 6.  We discovered Oregon has many campgrounds with full hook ups, and their camp sites and bathrooms were all super clean!

On July 7th,  we drove north to Newberry National Volcanic Monument near La Pine.

We did Big Obsidian trail. We walked through beautiful, but very sharp obsidian pieces before reaching the lava flow area.  After that we drove to Paulina lake, the lake we saw on Big Obsidian trail, and camped there for the night.    Paulina lake is a beautiful and peaceful lake, but we couldn’t find a nice beach to swim.  We were planning to hike to a “hot spring”, but it was so buggy and we heard that the spring is not really hot, so  we decided to move on the following morning.  A big scoll came
