Surf Scoter & Seal

Last week we visited Ocean Shores, WA.  It is a small coastal town facing the Pacific Ocean.   Unlike the Puget Sound, the waves were high and powerful.   After checking “Things to Do” on tripadvisor, We went to North Jetty, a small beach at the southern end of the Ocean Shores peninsula.  When we were watching the waves pounding on to the rocks and sea beds, I noticed several black birds riding waves in distance.   At first, I thought they were Puffins, but the Merlin app on my phone told me they are Surf Scoters.  Later, we saw a seal swimming right by the Surf Scoters.  They looked so comfortable in such rough sea.  (Photo credit:Bob)
