Bufflehead & Killdeer @Fay

The Sun was shining when we returned, so we headed to our favorite park.

We found a group of Bufflehead swimming.  Two breeding males and three females were chilling together.

Several Killdeers were on the beach.  We heard them, but it was difficult to spot them since they blend in so well with the pebbles and sand, but they kept moving in the same directions with us, so I was finally able to capture them.

On the way back, the gulls started to fly around.  When I see them flying in the distance, they looked very white, but I was surprised to see so much dark areas on the underside of the wings.  This one may be a 1st winter Bonaparte’s gull.  I’m not sure though.  The legs look yellow on the picture.
